History was made today as the Tennessee Basketball team reached the Elite 8. A feat that no other team in the history of the program has been able to accomplish. I haven’t been able to work with the team much this season because of my new internet responsibilities and am very fortunate to be involved with them during the NCAA tournament. It’s something I will never forget and will cherish for the rest of my life.
I wanted to post a couple timlapses I shot today on my 7D. The light was horrible, but it was a good opportunity to do some test shots. I hope to go back to the arch for some more shots when the light is better. I’m shooting one frame every three seconds for a few hundred frames and importing them into After Effects. I applied a slow push on these two shots to give them a little kick.
When I started going through the footage I shot for NCAA Diary Day 8, I started to realize I didn’t shoot so well today. It’s hard being a one man band on the road shooting all day and editing all night. I think in the end it’s good to realize who and what you are shooting for and strive to deliver the best shots possible. Being creative, capturing moments, and executing well composed shots on the fly is tough. It’s the fans, the supporters of Tennessee Athletics, and the players that motivate me to do better. I’m striving everyday to capture things that most people will never be able to experience first-hand. That means concentrating and delivering beautiful images that people will enjoy watching over and over again. Two more days in St. Louis…it’s time to step it up.
It’s good to be back home after a long week and some big wins in Providence. The Vols are looking strong in the post-season and I’m starting to feel they could go far in the tournament.
I got to edit day 5 of the NCAA Diaries at home tonight. It’s amazing what a difference working on 24” displays and quality audio monitors can do to your workflow after editing on a 15” laptop all week.
We leave Wednesday for St. Louis and a chance to make it to the final four. I’m going to try and come up with some new ideas for the diaries. I would love to hear some feedback about what I’ve done so far and hopefully bring the next round of videos to a whole new level…so feel free to leave comments.
Day 4 at the NCAA Tournament is finally in the books. Its been a very long day full of shooting, editing and posting and I’m finally going to get some sleep. After we beat San Diego State on Thursday, I was up until 9am Friday morning finishing up the edit. Woke up around 2pm and went at it again.
This is a video of the opening sequence for today’s team video diary. Again, it is a mix of EX3, 7D, and Flip video. I finally got some time to shoot around downtown Providence while the team was practicing and did a couple timelapses using the Canon. I imported the image sequences into After Effects and did a little push on one that turned out to be one of my favorite shots of the day. The camera is, as Bert Bertlecamp would say, MONEY!
The diaries are getting good response over at utsports.tv. I’m starting to get in a groove with the whole idea and hope to keep improving on my skills each day I produce one. They have been pulling 8500+ views a day, which is good for the site. I started the site back in November and it has been gaining popularity ever since.
Tomorrow is round 2 of the tournament. We face off against Ohio University. The guys looked really focused today. Can’t wait for another Vol Victory tomorrow.
